The high cliffs

I remember a discussion I had one day when I still lived in Paris. PYM asked me where I would like to live.

My answer was : By the sea.

And I added : If I could have the mountain as well, it would be wonderful.

I didn't know then that some ten years later I were to buy a house in Normandy, by the sea.

I didn't know either that the local Chamber of Commerce would wish to rename the area it was covering.

I din't even know that they would call it "The land of the high cliffs".

Where do I live? By the sea! And I have some kind of a mountain as well.

BOn week end.

Bergson m'a devancée.

I meet PYM now and then. I will refer to your discussion and give him the good news!

Breathtaking view and a delightful story.

Magnificent place, I wish I'd be there!

I have never been to Normandy, Rouan and Leharve is about the closest.
Are the cliffs chalk like over the channel in Dover.

I've never been in Normandy but it really looks like a beautiful place to visit. Nearest spot that I've been is Island of Jersey some ten years ago or so.

hpy a dit…

Peter, please do! And give him my best regards.

Outhouse capital of canada, I've never been to Dover, but yes, the cliffs are quite similar.

Haloefeki, tervetuloa Normandiaan blogini kutta.

Jag trivs bäst i öppna landskap
nära havet vill jag bo
några månader om året
så att själen kan få ro
Jag trivs bäst i öppna landskap
där vindarna får fart
Där lärkorna står högt i skyn
och sjunger underbart.
Där bränner jag mitt brännvin själv
och kryddar med johannesört
och dricker det med välbehag
till sill och hembakt vört.
Jag trivs bäst i öppna landskap
nära havet vill jag bo.

Jag trivs bäst i fred och frihet
för både kropp och själ.
Ingen kommer i min närhet
som stänger in och stjäl.
Jag trivs bäst när dagen bräcker
när fälten fylls av ljus.
När tuppar gal på avstånd
när det är långt till närmsta hus.
Men ändå så pass nära
att en tyst och stilla natt
när man sitter under stjärnorna
kan höra festens skratt.
Jag trivs bäst i fred och frihet
för både kropp och själ.

Jag trivs bäst när havet svallar
och måsarna ger skri.
När stranden fylls av snäckskal
med havsmusik uti.
När det klara och det enkla
får råda som det vill.
När ja är ja och nej är nej
och tvivlet tiger still.
Då binder jag en krans av löv
och lägger den vid närmsta sten
där runor ristats för vår skull
nån gång för länge sen.
Jag trivs bäst när havet svallar
och måsarna ger skri.

Jag trivs bäst i öppna landskap
nära havet vill jag bo.

You explained your location and whaat led up to it very well. Plus it's a lovely photo of a beautiful scene. Lucky you!!

Anonyme a dit…

Lucky you! Such a breathtaking view! I could see the sea, too, from this position, if I looked, and if it wasn't so dark.

I, too, would love to live by the sea. The view you see now must be spectacular. The beach look so secluded and a nice place to spend just looking off yonder.
