If you feel like you're moving with a fog between your two ears today, be hpy that it's not worse than it is. Having all those glasses of gin and whisky even before starting to open the oysters wasn't such a good idea! Maybe you're afraid of oysters? Well, firewater doesn't make them less dangerous than they are.
And as you didn't know it, I can tell you that it's only late in the summer, at crayfish parties in Finland that you empty a little glass of vodka (Koskenkorva) with each crayfish, or as some do, with each claw. At least that's what they used to do!
The tradition cannot be transferred to other countries, nor to another kind of food. Not even on new year's eve. It's much too dangerous, much more than the oysters can ever be.
Please, don't ask me to tell you anything about a certain crayfish party in Kotka many, many years ago - I survived even though I had a real pea soup between my ears the day after. But today I can eat my oysters without fear for a fog, except on the road.
Happy new year! Without fogs of any kind.
