Earlier this year I received a mail from our professional organization, warning us about the heat wave we were probably to encounter this summer again. I never opened it, as my office is in a house that remains "cold" even when it's hot outside, as long as you don't open doors and windows to let the heat in.
The windows have remained closed all summer, not in order to stop the heat, but it's a good way also to keep the rain outside.
As soon as the sun is shining, people rush to the beaches, just like they did on Sunday. After having dropped Peter at the station with a sandwich and a bottle of beer, DD and I drove down to Le Havre where we had a late lunch under a red umbrella in a restaurant on the beach.
The meal was good, and the white wine too, and it was a pleasure to look at the people enjoying the sun.
The heat wave lasted until the next morning. I hereby wish to thank my professional organization for having told me how to behave.
