Book Cover Tag
The more I scream that I don't want to be tagged, the more I get tagged. This time I'm the hpy victim of Cuckoo.
Rule:
Go to the advanced book search on Amazon, type your first name into the Title field, and post the most interesting/amusing cover that shows up.
So I did, and the first book I found was one about Helene Scherfbeck. I didn't look further.
Helene Scherfbeck (1862-1946) was a Finnish painter and what more, the one my mother liked best. As a child I had the chance to see several of her paintings, some of them very often, and I must agree with my mother. They are highly sensitive. They are the best.
I had the chance to see many Finnish paintings during my childhood.
The forging of the Sampo by Akseli Gallen-Kallela (1865-1931) was my favourite painting for a long time when I was just a little girl.
One of the best known portraits, if not the best one of Louis Pasteur was painted by Albert Edelfelt (1854-1905), but I knew many other of his paintings, and I liked them very much. I still do.
When I close my eyes and say Helene Scherfbeck to myself, I can see one particular painting. Still today.
I grew up with these paintings. They are part of me.
Now I must ask some of you to do the same, to find your book and to tell us all about it.
1. Cergie, my friend who recently said that she doesn't want to be tagged,
2. Delphinium, a delicious delirium,
1. Cergie, my friend who recently said that she doesn't want to be tagged,
2. Delphinium, a delicious delirium,
3. Isopeikko, a painter in Finnish words,
6. Peter, a Swede in Paris,
7. Trijnie, an artist from Holland.
Let's see what your name has to tell us.

Another Tag and a funny idea; O)). In books, which I prefer it is the content, not too coverage. I wish you a good weekend
Helene Scherbeck is simply the best. There's her exhibiton in Paris right now, or at least it opened a couple of weeks ago. In the Museum of Modern Art, I believe it was. (hint, hint Peter!)
Otan haasteen vastaan ja uppoudun kirjallisuuteen tuossa tuokiossa.
Merci d'avoir pensé à moi. Je vais donc tagger dans un instant.
Looked for info about Helene Scherbeck and the Paris exhibition, but could only find that it was inaugurated October 16, not if it's ongoing. Maybe you know something more, hpy? I must admit that I didn't know anything about her until now (about Edelfedt, Gallen-Kallela, Järnefelt, Pekka Halonen... yes - I once paid a visit to Pekka Halonen's home, saw a theatre play - in Finnish!!! - about him and Sibelius - they were neighbours...).
I don't know if and when I will answer on your tagging. Maybe...
An interesting tag this time and I enjoyed your description. What about the colorful, fuzzy image at the top of the page? One of Helene's paintings?
Mick, the first image is a photo by another Helene.
Thanks for the info hpy! I promise to go there. Would you and DD join or in any case go there? ... or do you want me to make a post about it?
It would be nice if you could do a post about it Peter, as we are both much too busy working for the moment. I would like to go there however, but I can't promise anything. On weekends we're too tired.
Do go there, Peter and make a post!!!
Oh I am not that late here. :-)
Thank you for doing this tag. I knew it was an easy one. Many people who were not even tagged, tried to find out their names in amazon & left the result on my blog. :-)
Lol.. I didn't know you didn't want tags. You tagged me so I thought you would be interested in doing tags. Nevertheless, it was fun.
And yes, you look gorgeous in that photo.
Have a nice weekend. Bon weekend.
This tag was a good one Cuckoo. Different.
Peikko totteli. Kiitos sanoistasi.
Hi, dear HPY ! That's done. Now I go and have my breakfast...
See you there...
[Don't worry, my tag is not finished already, I'll do another post on next Wednesday]
